Jonathan I. Mishkin, Founder and Managing Partner

Jonathan Mishkin is the founder and managing partner of Sanabe & Associates.

At Sanabe he has represented a variety of American and Canadian clients, including Ainsworth Lumber, Catalyst Paper, Cellu Tissue Holdings, Domtar, Finch, Pruyn, Huttig Building Products, Interfor, Kruger, Longview Fibre, Menasha Packaging, NewPage, Smurfit-Stone Container (Ad-Hoc Group of Preferred Equity Holders) and Wellspring Capital Management/Neucel Specialty Cellulose.

Prior to founding Sanabe in 2002, Jonathan was North American Group Head for Paper, Packaging and Forest Products for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) from 1994 - 2000 and retained this position after DLJ was acquired by Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) in 2000.

While at DLJ and CSFB, he initiated and managed over twenty M&A, high yield and merchant banking transactions. These included the sale of St. Laurent Paperboard, Repap Enterprises and Unisource Worldwide; divestitures for Bowater, Smurfit-Stone Container and Sappi Ltd.; major acquisitions for St. Laurent Paperboard and National Envelope; high yield financings for Stone Container, Gaylord Container and Repap Enterprises; and merchant banking investments for DLJ Merchant Banking Partners in American Tissue and S.D. Warren.

From 1989 - 1994, Jonathan built a leading franchise in Canadian paper and forest products at Burns Fry Limited. Significant transactions for which he was responsible included lead managing Noranda Forest's public sale of a 51% stake in MacMillan Bloedel, lead managed IPO's for Pacific Forest Products, St. Laurent Paperboard, TimberWest, Rainy River and Stone Consolidated as well as M&A transactions for Fletcher Challenge Canada, Enso Gutzeit and Avenor.

From 1981 - 1989, he worked at Morgan Stanley, covering Canadian and American industrial and financial companies.

Jonathan has served on the board of Ainsworth Lumber, a large Canadian manufacturer of oriented strand board.

He received a BA from Columbia University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Daniel A. Zwelling, Managing Director

Dan joined Sanabe & Associates in 2002.

At Sanabe he has acted for a variety of American and Canadian clients, including Ainsworth Lumber, Catalyst Paper, Cellu Tissue Holdings, Domtar, Finch, Pruyn, Huttig Building Products, Interfor, Kruger, Longview Fibre, Menasha Packaging, NewPage, Smurfit-Stone Container (Ad-Hoc Group of Preferred Equity Holders) and Wellspring Capital Management/Neucel Specialty Cellulose.

From 1999 - 2002 he worked as an Associate in the Paper, Packaging and Forest Products group at Credit Suisse First Boston. In this position, he played a significant role in several completed transactions for International Paper including the $10 billion acquisition of Champion International and related financing, the $500 million sale of the Masonite division and a $1 billion Convertible Debenture offering.

Prior to receiving his MBA from Yale University, Dan worked as a legislative aide to Congressman Robert Matsui (CA). Dan received a BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Doniel B. Perl, Associate

Doni joined Sanabe & Associates in 2011.

He previously worked as a Senior Assistant Manager at Unilever North America in the Market Insights and Modeling & Analytics groups. While there, he was responsible for building out several of the company's global capabilities related to revenue projections and marketing spend management. Doni also worked with Family Equity Partners, a middle-market buyout firm focused on the business services, healthcare and education sectors.

Doni holds a BS with top honors from New York University's Stern School of Business, where he was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.

Aman S. Talwar, Associate

Aman S. Talwar, Associate

Aman joined Sanabe & Associates in 2011.

Prior to joining Sanabe, he worked as an Associate in the Merchant Banking group at Morgan Stanley. In this position, Aman was responsible for projecting growth and multi-year performance for the group's Real Estate, Private Equity and Infrastructure funds.

Aman graduated summa cum laude with a BS degree in corporate finance and accounting from Bentley University, where he participated in an exchange program with Royal Holloway, University of London.
